The Illinois Steelheaders Fishing Club is an organization of Trout and Salmon anglers. The Illinois Steelheaders was founded in 1981 by anglers who met while fishing the outflow from the Waukegan power plant. Prior to becoming closed to fishing, this was the premier Steelhead 'stream' in Illinois. The founding members joined together with the goal of sharing their knowledge and expertise this tradition continues within the Illinois Steelheaders.



The purpose of the Illinois Steelheaders is to maintain a union of individuals who engage in sport fishing in the tributary rivers and open waters of Lake Michigan for Salmonoid species, primarily Steelhead Trout, and are dedicated to the conservation of the Lake and its tributaries.
